PreSonus Studio Channel Overview The Presonus Studio Channel is a channel strip that includes a tube preamp, a VCA compressor, and a 3-band parametric equalizer. The tube preamp section has two knobs: gain and tube drive. This allows you to control the quantity of signal that enters the tube circuitry, providing a broad range of sound possibilities. The VCA compressor component is ideal for helping all types of audio sit smoothly in a mix, whether it’s percussion with quick transients or smooth and silky vocals. The parametric EQ has a unique amplifier with volume controls on each of the three bands and a changeable Q knob on the middle frequency. The PreSonus Studio Channel channel strip is an excellent studio tool that also works well for live performances. It offers a wide range of timbres because of its tube preamp, VCA-based compressor, and three-band EQ. The XLR mic, balanced ¼-inch line, and unbalanced ¼-inch instrument inputs, as well as balanced XLR and ¼-inch outputs, allow for easy connection to any audio interface, amp, or PA system. The Class A preamp starts with a high-output 12AX7 tube, which provides plenty of headroom and a huge tone. Gain and Tube Drive adjustments allow for a broad variety of sounds, from transparent and clear to edgy and overdriven. A -20 dB pad, an 80 Hz high-pass filter, and polarity reverse allow you to fine-tune your signals. The three-band EQ is a precise instrument that may be used before or after a compressor, with the option to bypass each level separately. Custom-designed amplifiers provide sweet-sounding gain and cut for smooth highs, a clean middle, and deep, firm bass. The middle band is fully parametric, with changeable Q, and the high- and low-frequency bands are semi-parametric, with Frequency and Gain settings and the option of shelving or peaking. Class A Vacuum Tube Preamp The Studio Channel has a high-voltage 12AX7 tube with both Gain and Tube Drive controls, allowing you to dial in a range of tones. VU Meter The lighted VU meter shows both output level and gain decrease.
