Adam Professional Audio Sub15 Overview The Adam Sub 15 Active Studio Subwoofer is a very powerful subwoofer that can increase the frequency range of main and midfield monitors down to 20Hz. The strong 15″ woofer is constructed of an extremely stiff aluminum membrane and powered by two powerful magnets and a 100mm voice coil. With a power capacity of 1000 Watts (RMS), the PWM amplifier offers a roughly 90% efficiency factor. With these performance characteristics, the Sub15 can readily handle key musical sections with powerful and rapid bass peaks without exhibiting distortion or overheating. The downward-firing bass port has been specifically constructed with large dimensions and rounded edges to eliminate port noise. We have integrated many settings to tailor the Sub15’s sound to varied room conditions or individual preferences, including one for volume (-60dB to 6dB) and one for crossover frequency (50Hz – 150Hz). The satellite speakers can be operated at full range or with a high pass filter set to 85Hz. This enables the Sub15 to be seamlessly incorporated into a Dolby surround system. Unfavorable phase relationships between the satellites and the subwoofer, particularly in the crossover frequency band, may be readily corrected with the included phase reversal switch. The Sub15 is also quite adaptable in terms of connectivity, with balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) input/output connectors located on the subwoofer’s back. The Sub15 blends superb transient response with remarkable low-frequency performance to provide a truly musical reproduction experience. With a strong and undistorted sound pressure output of 120dB maximum SPL at one meter, the Sub15 is the ideal subwoofer for mid-sized and larger control rooms.
